December update ❄️

Hi, guys! We're back with another update for December.
Did you have a good Christmas? 🎄
We are slowly making more progress, and we'd like to share that with you!

1. Art
Did you see the preview we had of the implementation of our first CG yet? We posted it on Twitter a little while ago, but if you haven't, see below!

Do you remember this scene? Originally, this scene did not come with any CG! We got another finished CG as well - as for that one... here's a little preview of it! This has also been implemented in the game.

Do you recognize this scene and character? 👀

Anyway, that's what's been happening in the art department! As a small and friendly reminder, please be aware that while CGs may be implemented in the updated demo, the CG gallery will probably only be available in the full game. We apologize for any inconvenience...

2. Writing
As of now, we have made some progress, especially on Mo Rui and Luo Siyuan's route. The full game will have 5 chapters for each play through, meaning each character route is 3 chapters (since the common route covers the first 2 chapters). For both characters, chapter 3 has been drafted, and chapter 4 is in progress. As for Lian Qiaoma, chapter 3 is in progress.

We're aiming to take baby steps so as to not push ourselves, so it may be a bit slow, but here's a script preview from Luo Siyuan's route as gratitude for your patience. Please note that what's shown in the preview may be subject to some changes in the full game.

3. Other
We have implemented an in-game glossary feature. It's pretty simple (I'm not an expert programmer... sorry!) but it is functional. When there is a new word, it will show up in bold white text, as shown below, and once you click it, it will give you a comprehensible definition. This may be useful especially to those who are not as familiar with the Chinese fantasy (xianxia) genre, since we do have romanized Chinese words and references in the game. This will be in the updated demo along with the full game!

That said, it will probably be a feature within the play through itself. This means that we won't have a screen dedicated to "obtained" definitions like you may see in Japanese otome games for Switch. For all play throughs, the definition will be accessible to you as you encounter these. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Finally, from the Scales of Fate team, we wish you a (late) Merry Christmas and an (early) happy New Year! Our game artist, oofcat, has made some art for the holidays too.

...Speaking of New Years, as a little factoid, Chinese New Year is February 1st, 2022. It's a bit different from the January 1st one because it follows the lunar calendar instead of the solar one.
